In Mani, and within fairly easy distances of Kardamili, the arguably most-beautiful hillside settlements are the hamlets of Gaitses and the village of Proastio. These can be reached by short drive and then visited on foot.

Further south lies Limeni is a hidden gem tucked away on a small bay with crystal-clear waters. This tiny fishing village exudes tranquility and offers visitors an opportunity to relax on pristine beaches or explore nearby caves. Gerolimenas, a picturesque fishing village with colorful boats bobbing in its harbour. Here, visitors can enjoy fresh seafood at waterfront taverns while taking in breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. The village also serves as a gateway to Cape Tainaron, where ancient Greeks believed was the entrance to the afterworld, Hades.

Vathia in Mani is another village worth visiting. It is famous for its distinctive tower houses that dot the landscape. These towers were once used by local clans as defensive structures during times of conflict. Today, they serve as a reminder of Mani’s turbulent past. The village has preserved its traditional character, making it a popular destination for history enthusiasts.

One such village is Areopoli, located in Laconia. This charming village is known for its stone-built houses and narrow streets, which create a unique atmosphere. Visitors can explore the traditional architecture and visit the Tower of Pikoulakis, a well-preserved tower that offers panoramic views of the surrounding area. Another must-see village is Monemvasia, situated on a small island off the coast of Laconia. This medieval town is often referred to as the "Gibraltar of Greece" due to its impressive fortress-like appearance. The village is car-free, allowing visitors to wander through its cobbled streets lined with Byzantine churches and Venetian mansions.
